ABOUT US
We are Jack and Michelle Knochel, with our 2 boys, Dalton and Bryce.  We are a Christian family and we strive to imitate Jesus.  Jesus was a true servant and example of how we feel we need to act.  One of our favorite scriptures is Mark 10:45 "For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many."

REEL TIME started as an idea we had one day trying to figure out how we could impact the homeless here in Charlotte with more than another meal.  We had been out on the streets feeding them and getting to know them and just wanted to do something that others hadn't thought of.  We felt God was calling for us to think outside the box to impact people's lives in a way that was not being done.  MOVIE NIGHT came to mind.  We had no idea how to start it but we were determined to figure it out.  We met up with Liz at The Urban Ministries and told her about our idea and she was all for it.

Our first movie was October 2007, and we had over 30 people come out.  We showed up with a borrowed projector, an old surround sound, popcorn that was donated by a local movie theatre, candy, drinks, and volunteers.  WE WERE HOOKED!!  Right away we decided we were going to expand this to others.  We are now doing 3-5 movies a month at different types of facilities, to include the Urban Ministries, an assisted living, The VA in Salisbury, a childrens hospital, and a childrens home.

We have upgraded to a Fender PD 250 sound system, our own projector, new DVD player, popcorn popper, and 2 screens, one for inside and one for outside.

We partnered with the USO of NC here in Charlotte and did our first MOVIE NIGHT FOR THE TROOPS in September, 2008.  What a great event.  Thank you to everyone that helped make this event so awesome. We are also volunteers of the USO of NC and help out in the hospitality center in the Charlotte airport. We love our troops and have no words to describe our gratitude for their service and sacrifice to ensure our freedom so we can do what we do. Our prayers are always with them all.

We assisted the Bethlehem Center in Charlotte for their Carolina Challange in September, 2008.  It was great fun playing Guitar Hero on the big screen and great impact for the community.  We also did several MOVIE NIGHTS at the center.

2009 and 2010 we provided a few MOVIE NIGHTs for the Center of Hope in Charlotte. An awesome experience to provide some peace and comfort to the homeless women and children in our community.

Our standing monthly venues are at Levine Children's Hospital, the North Carolina Veterans Home in Salisbury, and the Laurels Assisted Living in Highland Creek.

Annually we are honored to be invited to Camp C.A.R.E. to do a special MOVIE NIGHT for all the young children and counselors at camp in Lake Lure, NC.

We also visit Thompson at St. Peter Lane, and their other locations as needed, to enjoy quality time with the children by bringing MOVIE DAY to them and have play time afterwards. Annually we help out the foster care program in December with Parents Day Out and bring MOVIE DAY for the children so the foster parents can have a day of shopping without the children.

We have ideas for the future but we are doing all we can with what we have at this time.  Come on and join us and start impacting Charlotte one movie at a time.
